Air TranAirTran pet policy

Types of pets allowed: Small, domesticated cats, dogs and birds that will fit in an approved carrier under the seat are accepted. Effective March 1, 2012, AirTran will no longer accept birds for travel on any flight.

Fee: $69; Effective April 10, 2012, airfare for a pet will increase to $75 each way per pet carrier.

In-cabin: Yes

Checked baggage:  No

Weight/Size restrictions: No weight restrictions on pets but the pet kennel is limited to maximum dimensions of 8.5″ high x 17″ long x 12″ wide.

Quantity restrictions: Six (6) pets are allowed per flight with a limit of one (1) pet per paying customer traveling on the same flight.

Notes: 

AirTran Airways does not allow pets to travel on international flights. Customers traveling with birds to San Juan, Puerto Rico must present required documentation — a certificate and a permit.
