While we at The Jet Set Pets love pet-friendly hotels, there is nothing like staying at a pet-friendly vacation home with your furry friend. However, you may want to think twice about booking that dream vacation to tropical Hawaii…Would a family getaway really be memorable if you had to leave out your beloved Spot? In a recent study by vacation rental metasearch engine, HomeToGo, Hawaii was found to only have 2% of holiday properties allowing pets onsite, far below the national average of 29%. Why not whisk your family away to a home away from home – a vacation rental that is pet friendly!
Nebraska comes in first place, with more than half of properties allowing pets. North Dakota and Kansas follow suit with 55% and 51% respectively as the top states that are pet friendly.
Consider that 16% of vacation rentals in Florida allow our furry friends to tag along on vacation; while another popular beach destination, California, allows pets in nearly one out of every three vacation home rentals.
Looking for a western experience? Let Spot roam freely in Montana, Idaho, and South Dakota as nearly 30% of properties in these expansive states allow our four legged friends in the home.
Take a look below at the interactive map that compares all 50 states in terms of percentage of pet-friendly vacation home rentals and a nationwide ranking chart.
