What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas if it pertains to pet-friendly hotels on the Las Vegas Strip. The Jet Set Pets can’t wait to gossip about its recent visit to Sin City to check out the new pet-friendly offerings at THEhotel at Mandalay Bay, one of the Strip’s few hotels that caters to our four-legged friends.
A special welcome letter, tasty treat, doggy relief bags and an elegantly appointed 22nd floor suite outfitted with eco-friendly food and water bowls awaited Lucy on her first trip to Las Vegas, which hasn’t been the most pet-friendly destination but is changing thanks to Caesars Palace, Trump International Las Vegas and the Four Seasons.
But back to THEhotel. There’s also a scrumptious, new in-room dining menu, an outdoors grassy relief area called “Barking Lot Lane” and dog-walking services, which means you don’t have to get up at 8 a.m. to take Fifi to Barking Lot Lane after dragging yourself back to your room from the casino floor or nightclub at 6 a.m. Both cost extra but are worth it.
Concierge Michelle Love took Lucy for a walk and returned her to the room in time for Marc to deliver the Canine Chop dish (4 oz. seared beef tenderloin with blanched carrots and white rice) to Lucy, who appreciated Marc offering to cut the meat to accommodate her tiny mouth. There are six dishes on the room service menu, ranging from $9 to $17.
And that’s not all! The hotel also offers pet-sitting services. The property requires dogs to be properly boarded in a kennel when left alone and even rents various sized kennels through the concierge — for an additional fee.
“Our research showed that there was a shortage of options in the Las Vegas market that allowed guests to travel with their pets, while also enjoying a luxury hotel experience,” said Didya Bowser, executive director of hotel operations at THEhotel. “We feel that THEhotel at Mandalay Bay creates the perfect opportunity for guests to travel with their pampered pups not only because of our convenient access and spacious suites, but also because of our non-gaming, non-smoking environment.”
THEhotel allows guests to travel with up to two dogs – together weighing no more than 100 pounds – for a daily fee of $50 per canine. With a separate valet, elevators steps away from the resort’s entrance and a designated walking area, THEhotel is well equipped to cater to the most discerning dogs.
