It’s October, which means it’s time to don your pink duds and take Fifi out for a walk with a cause. It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and with lots of events for you and your pet to take part in, you can help the fight to find a cure and have some fun, too. Paws for Strides

The American Cancer Society and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer present a 5K walk for dogs and their people to help raise funds and awareness for a world without breast cancer. Enjoy such contests as Best Dressed Dog, Most Inspirational Couple, and Dog and Owner Look-a-Like, as well as activities designed to be fun for all. Paws for the Cure

Join the 6th annual Paws for the Cure® Susan G. Komen dog walk featuring a one-mile walk through the scenic Hartwood Acres. Join other riders at the beautiful world class Horse Park of New Jersey and Ride for the Cure to help end breast cancer forever. You will enjoy a fun-filled day complete with two different trail rides, a silent auction and horse massages while raising funds to support Susan G. Komen Central and South Jersey. Seventy-five percent of all proceeds will support local breast cancer education programs and provide screening mammography to underserved women in 13 local counties, while 25% will support innovative breast cancer research. Power of Pink

The eighth annual Power of Pink walk combines a 5K dog walk/run and 1-mile Honor/Memory/Survivor walk with the 5K relay race. In the latter event, teams of four (male, female or mixed) will take turns running the 5K course to determine a team time. That race begins at 8 a.m. At 9:30 a.m., the 5K individual Walk/Run and Dog Walk/Run begins, and the Honor/Memory/Survivor Walk starts at 10:30 a.m. Register online at www.imathlete.com.
