With The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on location in Paris in the episode that premieres Monday, Feb. 25 on Bravo, there’s no better time to feature Giggy as The Jet Set Pet of the Month. The pampered Pomeranian of Lisa Vanderpump, star of RHOBH and Vanderpump Rules, accompanied Vanderpump and her husband Ken Todd to France.
“I don’t think he was allowed on the Eiffel Tower,” Vanderpump told The Jet Set Pets. “We took a helicopter between Nice and St. Tropez and he was great. He’s calm if he’s with me.”
After all, what’s a trip all the way to Paris, one of The Jet Set Pets Top 10 Pet-Friendly Destinations, without going south to St. Tropez? Gigolo Vanderpump, his full name, leads a pretty fabulous life. He’s got a serious closet that must be the envy of his doggie playgroup. He’s popular on social media with over 61,000 Twitter followers and 12,000 Facebook likes. He has his own cocktail (hopefully non-alcoholic) called the Giggy-tini and website. He’s invited to red carpet events. And he’s a regular in Manhattan.
“He goes to New York regularly because he does so many talk shows,” Vanderpump told The Jet Set Pets. “If I don’t have him, everybody asks, “Where is Giggy?” When we stayed at The Plaza, he had his own bed and little toys. And they set food out. I love Trump SoHo. I love The Chatwal. That’s really beautiful.”
In St. Tropez, it seems like Giggy would have stayed at Byblos, which treats le chien very well. But they passed on five-star hotel service. “We stayed at my stepson’s house,” said Vanderpump, who likes Le Yaca in St. Tropez. “He has a guest house there.”
And how did Giggy like St. Tropez?
“He was good but it was very hot there,” said Vanderpump, who used to live in Monaco.
It’s not like Giggy can go topless or have much sun exposure due to his alopecia.
Ah yes, the clothes. No, they’re not canine couture. They buy Giggy basic pajamas and add their own bling. “Every award show they ask him to come. ‘Bring Giggy.’ There are so many. He’s got to dress up. And he gets cold so it’s important (for him to wear clothes) on the plane.”
Unlike Dita von Teese’s cat Aleister, previously named The Jet Set Pet of the Month, who loves his Louis Vuitton carrier, Giggy isn’t crazy about carriers.
“He doesn’t want to go in carriers at all so we have to sneak him under my sweater,” said Vanderpump. “He has a service dog tag for emotional support.”
As a service animal, Giggy isn’t confined to his carrier when on the airplane as many airlines require. He can be in Vanderpump’s arms, where he usually is anyway.
“He really doesn’t want to walk,” Vanderpump says. “People say, “Why do you carry him around. He has four legs. “He likes to be carried most of the time.
No wonder Giggy earned a whopping seven minutes of air time on the 20/20 special Pet Crazy: Pampered Pets. One may think Giggy is Vanderpump’s only dog but she has three more. She lost one in 2011 after waiting six months for him to die but got another one the next day.
But there is only one Giggy.
“Even before we did the show, he pretty much followed me everywhere,” Vanderpump said. “We are exactly as we’re portrayed on the show.”
