I think I had more fun in New York the last four days than I did the entire four years I lived there from 2005-2009.
Here’s what I did:
- Appeared on WCBS’ Sunday morning show with my mommy to talk about pet travel
- Slept in the most comfy dog bed possible when I stayed at The Benjamin
- Sauntered around Times Square, where I was the center of attention
- Met Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts
- Was treated like a queen at The Muse Hotel
New York is one of The Jet Set Pets Top 10 Pet-Friendly Destinations and I see why. There are so many pet-friendly hotels in New York that don’t just allow four-legged guests like me but really spoil them.
Imagine my delight when I arrived to my suite at The Benjamin hotel in Midtown East New York and found a lavender Cain & Able Collection Doggie Spa Pack full of goodies! And the dog bed! Did I mention how comfy it is? The pet-friendly New York hotel also offers room service by ScooterFoods™ and arranges all kinds of cool services like gourmet cakes and event planning for pampered pets like me. My mommy got me all gussied up with Cain & Able products before we went to the CBS studio on W. 57th Street for our close-up.
I spent a couple of nights at The Benjamin before heading across town to The Muse Hotel in Times Square. From the moment I arrived, I felt special. Waiting for me was a decorative water bowl in front of a sign that read “Ginger Welcomes Lucy.”
Ginger is a teacup Pomeranian with her own business card that lets everyone know she is the Director of Pet Relations at the pet-friendly New York hotel. (Note to self: Order business cards listing me as Top Dog at The Jet Set Pets.) She sits behind the front desk with her mommy.
My own mommy must have repeated 100 times, “Be nice Lucy. We’re in Ginger’s house.” All right, lady. Twice is enough. I got it. I know how to behave in New York and everywhere else.
Though to tell you the truth, I was jealous of Ginger. Not jealous in the way I’m jealous of Uggie from the movie The Artist. Uggie is a dog with an Academy Award. Hooray for him!
With Ginger it’s different because she’s a female so there’s that competition thing going on between us. We’re around the same age but she weighs less than me and has a better wardrobe. You females know what I’m talking about. It’s not like I felt like a fat slob but I admit my ego was slightly deflated being around this skinny New York bitch.
But I felt like a star again when Ginger showed me to my fabulous room and I saw the pretty dog bed and oodles of treats. Yeah, Ginger, you may be skinnier and better dressed than me but I still had no choice but to give you the cold shoulder.
I ventured out to Times Square in New York that night but it was too crowded. My mommy did a good job making sure I didn’t get stepped on when she walked over to Virgil’s Bar-b-que but I was happy to get back to The Muse Hotel, where I felt safe. The next morning we went back to Times Square and I attracted so much attention that I think I saw my name in New York lights.
Even Robin Roberts couldn’t help but give me a rub on my little head when she saw me in the Good Morning America crowd after she interviewed Drew Brees. Watch the video and see if you can spot me.
Boy, did I feel special. After Robin petted me some of the visitors asked if they could take my photo. Naturally, I obliged.
If I can make it in New York, I can make it anywhere.
