Check Fido’s date book and clear Fluffy’s calendar. The Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay has a year’s worth of Yappy Hour dates and themes scheduled at this dazzling Northern California coastal resort where Lucy and I stayed a while back.
Guests and locals are invited to stop by the resort’s Ocean Lawn between 5 and 8 p.m. when the canine clientele can enjoy complimentary treats and flavored waters while their guardians enjoy specially priced beer and wine from the bar, as well as a special “Yappetizer” menu. Items from the resort’s Pampered Pooch menu, including Bow Wow Meatballs and Rice and Canine Casserole will also be available for purchase. For the ulti-mutt in luxury, The Ritz-Carlton Spa offers 15-minute Pooch and Parent massages. A portion of the Yappy Hour proceeds will be donated to the Peninsula Humane Society.
Each Yappy Hour has a theme, which adds to the fun. Dress up your pup and maybe your little pal will win a prize.
Pups and their people are invited to schmooze and sniff with fellow canines on the following Yappy Hour dates:
- January 30: Welcome to 2014 New Year Celebration
- February 27: Winter Games
- March 27: March Madness
- April 24: Easter
- May 29: Summer BBQ
- June 26: Independence Day
- July 31- Swim Suit Contest
- August 28: Dog-Gone End of Summer Celebration
- September 25: Harvest Festival
- October 23: Yappy Halloween
- December 18: Christmas Celebration
With the Olympics underway in Sochi, you should have plenty of inspiration to create that gold-medal winning outfit for your four-legged friend in time for the next Yappy Hour on February 27. And you have plenty of time to shop for that darling swimsuit for your pampered pooch.
Situated 23 miles southwest of the San Francisco International Airport, the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay is a 261-room destination spa and golf coastal hotel. As the San Francisco Bay Area’s only oceanfront resort, it is perched atop a rugged bluff overlooking 50 miles of pristine California coastline.
